TECHNIQUES

LEADLIGHT - Traditional:

Mainly used for panels that are inserted into doors, windows, & skylights but can be free standing/hanging.

A design is drawn up, from this the specially selected “art” glass is cut, ground and assembled within “lead came” to create the completed picture/pattern. After puttying and polishing the panel is ready to be installed.

All “art” glass is imported, mostly from USA and a small quantity from Europe .

LEADLIGHT - Reproduction:

In some situations a more suitable option to traditional leadlight that uses an adhesive lead strip to outline an acrylic surface coating to create the design. Panels use a single piece of glass that is able to be toughened if required.

COPPERFOIL or TIFFANY

This technique uses “art” glass to create not only panels but 3 dimensional shapes such as lampshades.

Following the desired pattern the glass is cut, ground, wrapped in copper and soldered together.

SLUMPED & FUSED or KILNWORKED GLASS

Specifically manufactured glasses that are “compatible” with each other are selected and used in these techniques. The use of a kiln allows for the manipulation of the glass to create the desired shape and design.

ACID ETCHING, SANDBLASTING and PAINTING are also available.
